Content & growth marketer
Canada, remote. Full-time employee.
Company description
Fourwaves is the platform for academic conferences: event websites, abstract submission, peer review, registration, a conference app and payments. Our clients are universities, scientific societies and associations, and research networks around the world. Our mission: supporting scientific events to break down the silos in research.
We’re a team of 15 based in Quebec: 100% remote, bootstrapped, profitable and growing.
The position
You’re the only marketer on the team, and you make the content yourself: articles, videos, posts, newsletters, and answers in the communities where organizers ask questions.
Your success is measured on one number: new qualified organic leads. That’s every new qualified lead (an organizer with a real event) who found Fourwaves on their own: through a Google search, ChatGPT or another AI assistant, social media, a video, a Reddit thread, etc.
Owning that number means being curious about every lead behind it: who are they, what event are they running, what did they search or ask before reaching out, and where did they first hear about us. Reading where new leads come from, asking sales about them and digging into the details is your responsibility, and what you learn tells you what to make next.
You’re not starting from zero: organic search and AI answers already bring us customers every month, with no one dedicated to them. Once you know our customers, you build your own content plan and try different channels, measure what works, and adjust your strategy over time. The team is there to brainstorm and help you. You work closely with the founder, sales and customer success.
What you’ll do
You always keep score of how many new qualified organic leads came in and where each one heard about us. You follow the attribution in HubSpot, GA4 and Search Console, ask sales and customer success about the people behind the numbers, flag anything unusual, and let what you learn shape the content.
Content, the core of the job
The list below is a set of ideas, not a checklist. You prioritize them with the founder’s insights and your own, and we adjust over time.
- Search and AI answers. Write new SEO and AEO articles and update existing pages, including our competitor and alternatives pages, so we rank in Google and get cited in AI answers.
- Product education. How-tos and feature explainers that show what Fourwaves can do, so organizers who don’t know us yet discover it, and existing customers use more of it along the way.
- Newsletter. The monthly product-update newsletter.
- YouTube. Product updates, how-tos and short demos.
- LinkedIn. A steady company presence to keep Fourwaves visible and top of mind.
- Communities. Helpful answers on Reddit, Quora, ResearchGate and other places where organizers ask questions.
- Spotlights on customers, research and our team culture.
- Backlinks and mentions. Customer success asks customers for links and software reviews (on G2, Capterra, etc.) during calls. You find the other opportunities off our site, and you make sure every listing or mention of Fourwaves describes us with the right words.
Expansion. Campaigns and simple playbooks (case studies, landing pages, email sequences) to grow inside the universities and institutions where we already have many customers.
Nurture. Emails for subscribers and leads, onboarding drips, and light webinars and live demos.
Website. New pages (event types, customer types, university landing pages), copy and CTA tests, and short promo videos.
Tools: HubSpot, Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, Surfer SEO, and Claude Code on a marketing site we edit in minutes.
What we’re looking for
- 3 to 8 years in B2B marketing, ideally SaaS, and you still make the content yourself. Articles, videos, posts, emails: you’ve shipped them, not just briefed them.
- You write clearly, in many formats. Our audience is researchers, and they notice.
- You’re curious about numbers, and even more about the people behind them. You want to know how many new leads came in this week, where each one heard about us and what they were looking for, and if nobody tells you, you go ask. You can tell a real trend from noise, and you’d rather say “we don’t know yet” than dress up a number.
- You know SEO and AI search. You write content that ranks and gets cited in AI answers, and you read GA4, Search Console and HubSpot charts with ease.
- You’re comfortable working in French. Team meetings are in French, most content is in English, and our website and newsletters are bilingual.
- AI is part of how you work. You build your own workflows with Claude or similar tools, new tech doesn’t slow you down, and you check everything the AI produces.
- You’re autonomous. As the only marketer, you plan your own work, move things forward and ask for help when you need it.
- Team player, low ego, high ownership. Ideas and pushback from anyone on the team are welcome, because what you care about is the number, not being right.
- Nice to have: an interest in academia or research.

- a few lines on how AI fits into your workflow.
