Organic growth lead
Canada - Remote
Company description
Fourwaves is the modern platform for scientific conferences: event websites, abstract submission, peer review, a mobile app, and payments. Our clients are universities, scholarly societies, and research centers around the world.
We’re a team of 16, 100% remote, bootstrapped, profitable, and growing. We ship fast and collaborate in our virtual office on Gather Town or during in-person retreats.
The position
We have grown mostly on word of mouth: researchers referring colleagues, one lab to the next, one university to another. It is a strong signal, and it means a large part of our acquisition potential is still untapped.
You will own our organic inbound acquisition: when someone searches for conference or abstract management software, in Google or in an LLM like ChatGPT, Fourwaves should be there and win.
What makes this role unusual:
- The foundations are already laid. Over the past months, our founder did the first stretch of the work himself, with AI agents: focused content on the searches that matter, a backlink pipeline, strong review profiles (4.7 on G2, 5.0 on Capterra), and clean analytics down to lead source.
- It is a building role. You are not starting from a blank page, and you are not inheriting someone else’s mess: you take over solid, instrumented foundations, and the engine itself is yours to build.
- The bet is depth, not volume. A tight set of high commercial-intent searches where we earn and defend the top position. Researchers and conference organizers do not fall for generic content or growth hacks, which is exactly what makes the problem interesting: the bar is high and quality compounds.
The stack
- Surfer SEO, Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager
- Everything wired together through Claude Code: our marketing site is code we can edit in minutes, and a full SEO audit runs at lightning speed
- A marketing KPI dashboard that updates itself every week
You spend your time on judgment and strategy, not on plumbing.
What you’ll do
- Own our visibility on the searches that matter, in Google and in LLMs. Diagnose what it takes to win each one (content depth, authority, third-party citations, reviews) and run the plan.
- Write excellent, non-commodity content. The founder writes the pieces where he has the most product insight; you write everything else and own distribution and measurement. The subject matter is very learnable; what matters is depth and a real point of view.
- Grow our third-party presence: review platforms, independent listicles and roundups, communities like Reddit and Quora, and simple screen-recorded product tours on YouTube. LLMs cite third parties as much as they cite us, so this is half the game.
- Amplify what we publish. Repurpose our best content for LinkedIn so it reaches our niche. To be clear, this is not a social media management job: no content calendar, no community management. Social is just one distribution channel for the search-first work, a small slice of the role.
- Measure honestly and act on it. Qualified leads by source, rankings, LLM citation share. Double down on what works, cut what does not.
As we saturate the existing demand in our niche (roughly the first 12 to 18 months), the role grows into demand creation: reaching the buyers who are not searching yet. There is a real growth path here.
This is a hands-on builder role, not a management role. You are the growth resource, working directly with the founder.
What we’re looking for
- A real, evidenced organic track record. Not theory: a specific page or site you took to the top of search for a commercial-intent query, with before-and-after numbers and a clear story of how. This is the part we will dig into hardest.
- You can read a results page like a chessboard. Given a search we are losing, you can diagnose why (content, authority, or the third-party pages occupying the results) and what it would take to displace them. We will do this together, live, on our own keywords.
- You understand where search is going. Visibility in AI answers comes from fundamentals done well, and the discipline is young and moving fast. You keep up, you test, and you are honest about what nobody knows yet. If your pitch is built on “GEO hacks,” we are not a fit.
- You own your results, with no excuses. When something is not working, you are the first to flag it, you dig into why, and you adjust.
- You are analytical. Comfortable with funnel data, cost per lead, and lifetime value, and your decisions follow the numbers.
- You are curious and autonomous. You form your own hypotheses, run experiments, and measure, without needing sign-off at each step.
- AI is already in your daily workflow. Our marketing stack is AI-instrumented, and we will ask you to show us how you work with it today. You pick up new tools fast and on your own.
- You write excellent English and are comfortable working in French. Our workspace is French; you do not need to be a native speaker, and some accent or imperfection is completely fine.

Send us a short note and, most importantly, one concrete example of organic growth you drove: the page or site, the before-and-after, exactly what you did, and what you would do differently today. We care far more about that than a polished cover letter.
