The position

We’re hiring a full stack developer: one person who takes a feature from the database schema all the way to the interface a researcher actually uses, and ships it. If you like drawing a hard line between back-end work and front-end work, this is not the role. If you like owning a problem completely, it is.

What makes this job interesting:

  • You own features end to end. No ticket gets handed off to another team halfway through. You design the data model, write the API, build the interface, and see it live. The scope is a real feature, not a slice of one.
  • The product is used by real researchers, and it shows. Thousands of scientists submit abstracts, review each other’s work, and attend events through our platform every year. When something is slow or confusing, we hear about it directly. When we get it right, we hear about that too.
  • A small team means real influence. With 16 people, there is no layer between you and the decisions. You are in the product conversations, you push back on specs, and your ideas ship. Technical debt is something we can actually go fix.
  • AI is part of how we work. Our codebases are instrumented for it, and we expect you to use it well: fast on the mechanical work, careful on the judgment calls.

The stack

  • Back end: C#/.NET with a relational database, running on cloud infrastructure
  • Front end: a modern JavaScript single-page app, plus a mobile app
  • Day to day: AI coding tools in the daily workflow, code reviews on everything, no heavyweight process

You don’t need to have shipped every piece of this before. You do need to be the kind of developer who picks up an unfamiliar part of the stack and gets productive in it quickly.

Your responsibilities

  • Design, build, and ship features across the whole stack, from the API and data model to the interface;
  • Take part in product discussions and challenge the spec when the technical reality calls for it;
  • Review your teammates’ code and keep the quality bar high across the codebase;
  • Own the performance, reliability, and long-term evolution of the components you touch;
  • Work in an environment where your solutions and your ideas actually count.

What we’re looking for

  • 3+ years building web applications, with real work on both the server side and the interface;
  • You have played an important role in the design and evolution of an application platform, not just closed tickets inside someone else’s architecture;
  • You are comfortable with a modern back-end stack (C#/.NET or an equivalent typed language, relational databases, cloud services) and with building interfaces in a modern JavaScript framework;
  • You have a strong sense of ownership. You flag what is broken, you dig into why, and you follow through without needing sign-off at every step;
  • You care about the user, not just the code. You ask who the feature is for and what would actually make their day easier;
  • AI is already in your daily workflow and you have opinions about where it helps and where it does not;
  • You speak and write fluently in French and English. Our team works in French; our customers and our product are in English.
